Artist Statement
I’ve progressed in taking pictures. In my overall portfolio you will find that there are certain pictures that I have taken from the beginning that aren’t really that good compared to my newest photos. I still haven’t been able to show who I am through my artwork yet just because these have all been school assignments which have not given me that chance. I would say my portfolio could be way better if I had done every single assignment. You will find quite a variety of photographs that I have taken. I feel that I am still progressing in my Photoshop skills and I do need to learn a lot more in order to make my photographs intense like the way I’d like them.
Over the semester I’ve learned so much when it comes from taking pictures and turning them into art. I never really thought it was possible for me to create amazing pictures by learning all that I’ve learned. In Photoshop I have found it extremely difficult for me mainly because I got confused a lot and I have a terrible memory. My terrible memory affected the way my Photoshop photos come out because I can never remember any tools that I could use in order to make my photos look amazing, jaw dropping. I have succeeded in my photo taking skills. Before I didn’t really think that there was any other way to take pictures and make them look more artistic. Like, there are many ways to take pictures for instance if I take a picture from a different angle that you wouldn’t expect it may make that picture look more artistic.
I could improve if I just work a lot more with Photoshop and learn a bit more about it. I have a lot of ideas and I’d like to explore them a bit more. I’ve learned to be a lot more creative. This has expanded my mind artistically in so many ways. I now see what I want to see in my pictures because I know exactly how to express my artwork with thought others really seeing it. I now can take so many pictures and express what I want to see in them. I still have so much more but what I’ve done in class has given me some pretty great ideas.

Underwater

The lyrics i chose for this project are underwater and i wouldn't like me by Tegan and Sara.

"Underwater I wrote drowning I use to be such good swimmer but for now my head is in the clouds. I'm a silly love song a twisted elbow crush song I would go to jail with only boys just to prove I was as tough as you and when I get out for good behavior. I'll be writing love songs silly banging knee songs. I'm a car crash but I have to get up and every morning it's a cleanup all I need is time, time to love you. The forecast is grey but we're staying inside. You must live close I've seen you drive by I left signs on the lawn where have they gone? Did you take them to tease me to follow or lead me? You're a silly love song a verse chorus and such some silly love song a verse chorus and such. I'm a car crash But I have to get up and every morning it's a cleanup all I need is time, time to love you all I need is time, all I need is time all I need is time, time to love you all I need is time, all I need is time all I need is time, time to love you All I need is time, time to love you Time to love you

And there's a war inside of me do I cause new heartbreak to write a new broken song? Do I push it down or let it run me right into the ground I feel like I wouldn't like me if I met me. Well I can't stop talking for fear of listening to unwelcome sound and you haven't called me in weeks and honestly it's bringing me down. I feel like I wouldn't like me if I met me I feel like you wouldn't like me if you met me and don't you worry there's still time. There's nothing to live for when I'm sleeping alone and I wash the windows outside in hopes that the glare will bring you around Sunshine is days away I won't be saved I know all the words I can't say that I'll love you forever I won't say that I'll love you forever."
I chose these lyrics because they express who i am. I truly am a silly love song. All I truly believe in is love and love conquers all. I do feel that sometimes i don't deserve to find true love just because I've hurt so many with out caring. I feel once someone gets to know me they will see what i see and just walk away. I do live in sin and recognize it.

I thinkn overall my favorite photo to work on was the alien shot. I thought the way we used octopus legs and made them look like as if they were coming out of my mouth made the shot look strange and very wierd.

Photographic Effects: Adjustment Layers
Crossprocess
Glow

Out of all the photoshop tricks i learned my favorite one would have to be crossprocess
because it makes the colors pop and look a bit more dramatic. There is
just so much going on in that photo like the black outer lining it frames it really well. Out of all the trick I would like to learn more about the healing process I'm sure there is so much more to do and learn about changing certain features on our bodies i think that would be really interesting.

Portraits: Face shot

Artistic

Costume & Prop Incorporated Shot

Suprise

I believe that the portrait i was indeed more successful in was my costume incorporated shot. I got to capture how fierce it looks and all the color that makes it pop. It's very sheik and different from the other shots especially the extreme angle that its in really makes this shot better.
For my artistic shot i wanted to create the mood that she is one within nature and nothing can harm her in the outdoors. She looks as though she can climb any mountain i wanted to create that sort of mood.
Well in my prop costume shot i created her wearing bright colors and her make up look very extreme. Also the chair she is sitting in is very colorful and stands out in this shot.
what makes my surprise shot unique is that its different that any other photo i was trying to create a leading line through her lashes to go into her eyes since that was the main focus. Her eyes held sop much emotion and i felt it made this look unique. Putting it in black and white went with the sad mood i was creating.

What i thought was quite funny is that Karen and I went to great lengths to get some good shots. like in the artistic shot we went to the mountains. It was beautiful out there and quickly captured the theme i was going for. I can say that we spent so much time on thinking of ideas and costumes and props. Overall we had a lot of fun working on this it was one of my favorite projects.

Compositional Trick # 8 Fill in Flash

Fill in flash lights up all the dark shadow spots that are on my pictures. Fill in flash works extremely well when your indoors to light up the photo or even when your outdoors to get rid of any shadows that might appear in unwanted areas.

Compositional Trick #7 Light
In dramatic lighting I find beauty that is quite enchanting which gives off an emotion that is stong. It sets it apart from any regular picture that doesnt focus on the lighting. My photo brings fear. You can feel that she is living in fear by trying to hide the pain she has. The light helps create this feeling by giving off some bright white on her arms and face; while the background is dark and dim.
Compositional Trick #6 Framing

Framing goes around what the photographer wants you to look at. When it comes to framing you look thorgh something to see the emphasis. There are all kinds of frames there are natural frames and frames we make on our own.

Compositional Trick # 5 Extreme Angles

Extreme angles is a very good compositional trick it lets you look into the picture in a birds or worms perspective. Since normally we don't often look at things from those angles so it brings out a very interesting shot. my photos are a good example of extreme angles because you can see that normally if you were looking at it in your perspective this is not what you will see. it lets you look up into and down into my photos.

Compositional Trick # 4 Simplicity

Simple does not always mean boring sometimes simple makes the shot more interesting to look at because you are only looking at one thing yet its interesting. Simplicity can be very effective because it can be simple yet very interesting to do.
Compositional Trick #3 Macro

Macro is good when you want a real good close up shot of something we normally don't see. It gives you a clear shot and than blurs out the excess background to get you to focus on the emphasis. It is good for a photographer to know about macro so they can get some beautiful closeup shots.
Compositional Trick #2 Leading Lines

What leading lines do for us is they take us to our emphasis they lead the way so your eyes can follow along through where it takes you than your eyes should end up onto the emphasis. Like in this picture the leading lines is the puddle of water creating a path which pushes our eyes towards my emphasis.
Compositional Trick #1 Rule Of Thirds
The rule of thirds is a good compositional trick to use when taking picture's. Normally we put our emphasis in the center but another way to make it interesting is to do the opposite of that to get a more interesting photo. It is called the rule of thirds because your breaking the screen up into three vertically and three horizontal angles and focusing on one of the far point sided angles.
